FAQs about Lahinch Surf School

Do I need to bring anything?

Just a swimsuit for under your wetsuit, a towel, and a sense of adventure! The school provides all the technical gear you need, including warm wetsuits for the Atlantic water.

How long is a typical lesson?

A standard session lasts about 2 hours. This includes roughly 20–30 minutes of land-based instruction and safety briefings, followed by over an hour of actual time in the water.

Is it safe for kids who aren’t strong swimmers?

Yes. Beginner lessons take place in “waist-deep” water. Students are always within their depth and under the constant supervision of qualified beach lifeguards and instructors.

Tip: If you’re planning a trip during the summer or on a Bank Holiday, book your slot at least two weeks in advance, as they fill up incredibly fast. After your surf, head to the “Corner Stone” or “Danny Mac’s” for some post-ocean fish and chips—it’s a local tradition! Also, check the tide charts on their website to see when the beach is at its biggest.
